SCULPTURE DESCRIPTION

A tiny infant sleeps peacefully on the iconic oriental plane tree (Chinar) leaf, gently held by a blooming Lotus (Pamposh) from the floating gardens (Rad) of Kashmir, India. Presenting you with the comforting embrace and nurturing beauty of Kashmir’s natural treasures.

Statement: This snow sculpture, titled “Nature’s Cradle,” was conceived as a tribute to the nurturing and comforting relationship between humanity and the natural world. As most of our team members come from the Kashmir region in India and we practice snow sculpting in Kashmir, we wanted to present something from Kashmir. So, the inspiration stems from Kashmir’s unique landscape, where the Lotus—locally known as Pamposh—blooms in the floating gardens (locally known as ‘Rad’) and the majestic Chinar tree (oriental plane tree) stands as an enduring symbol of the region. By placing a tiny, sleeping infant atop, the sculpture embodies the nurture and comfort that nature bestows on us.

The choice of these elements is deliberate. The Lotus flower represents purity, grace and resilience - a perfect representation of the Kashmir valley. Lotus stems (locally known as Nadru) are part of several nurturing traditional Kashmiri cuisines. The Chinar leaf, iconic across Kashmir, symbolises both strength and the changing seasons, reinforcing the idea of continuity, renewal and transformation.
